Two young German women, aged 29 and 16, were rescued unharmed this Saturday from Bajo Risco Beach. The event took place around 7:30 p.m. Cecoes alerted the Emerlan NGO to locate two people who were disoriented as night fell and they had neither flashlights nor provisions.
The High Altitude Rescue Unit (URA) of this institution is immediately activated, which travels to the area with six members, two all-terrain vehicles and an ambulance.
"Once on the scene, and with the data provided by 112 and together with Civil Protection personnel from Teguise, a zoning and search method is established and the search begins, which bears fruit three hours later," Emerlan points out.
"Once it was verified that they did not require health assistance and after calming them down and giving them shelter, the ascent began jointly along the Las Rositas road and then they were transferred to their residence, thus ending the operation almost 5 and a half hours after it began," they detail from the NGO. Civil Protection of Teguise, Local Police and Civil Guard also participated in the operation.
From Emerlan they remember that "you should always go to the countryside with the necessary safety elements such as shelter, provisions and above all, if there is a possibility that it will get dark, at least a flashlight and of course a mobile phone. If we find ourselves disoriented, we must call 112. If this is not possible, we must look for a sheltered area, far away, if possible, from areas where the sea could reach, shelter ourselves and wait for the first light of day to begin the return, especially if we do not know the area beforehand."
