The Traffic Civil Guard of Lanzarote investigated a 32-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes against road safety and another for not having the corresponding driving license, ignoring the signs and indications of the Civil Guards, deliberately increasing the speed in order to avoid and flee the verification point, starring in a manifestly reckless driving, in the municipality of Teguise.

As explained by the Benemérita, on January 29, a control device had been established on the LZ-1 Arrecife-Órzola road in a roundabout at kilometer point 4.800, a driver, realizing the presence and indications made by the agents, ignored them, deliberately increasing the speed in order to evade police action.

Therefore, the corresponding operational monitoring device was established for the identification of the driver, observing how in his flight the vehicle was circulating in the opposite direction to that stipulated, even taking a roundabout on the left side, which caused drivers of several vehicles, including that of a regular bus line, had to make abrupt evasive maneuvers to avoid colliding with the escaped vehicle, seriously endangering the lives of people traveling in the opposite direction to the reckless driver.

After being reached and identified the driver, the agents were able to verify that he lacked any type of driving license for never having obtained it and after carrying out the corresponding alcohol and drug verification tests, he tested negative for alcohol and positive for THC and cocaine.

The instructed proceedings were sent to the corresponding Duty Court.
