The Civil Guard of the Port of Light in collaboration with the Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency in Las Palmas, arrested on February 13 a 39-year-old man with a police record for similar events, for committing a crime against public health, drug trafficking, by transporting 6 kilograms of hashish and 51 grams of cocaine hidden in a double bottom inside a rental vehicle, moments before boarding to the island of Lanzarote from the Port of Light.
During the service they perform in the ports they were able to observe a man who showed a high state of nervousness and a visibly suspicious attitude in the presence of the agents, which is why they proceeded to identify him.
However, the individual intended to board a rental vehicle on a ferry of one of the shipping companies that operate in this port bound for the island of Lanzarote, in which the troops determined to carry out a superficial frisk of his belongings and a more exhaustive search of the interior of the vehicle he was driving, locating certain anomalies, finding a double bottom inside the rear seat of the same, verifying that in that area there were several rectangular packages of what appeared to be narcotic substance.

Finally, the corresponding inspection of the content and the narcotest test of the wrappers found is carried out, with the agents moving to the official premises of the Fiscal and Border Section of the
port, in order to carry out a count, weighing and determination of the type of substance by applying a drug detection spray, obtaining a positive result as it was about 6 kilograms of alleged hashish and about 51 grams of alleged cocaine, therefore the immediate arrest of the person allegedly author of the criminal act was carried out.
The vehicle was provisionally seized until it was handed over to its legitimate owner. It should be noted that this is the second intervention of this type that has been carried out in the last twenty days in the Port of Light.
The detainee together with the proceedings instructed for this purpose, was made available to the Court in functions of Guard of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, meaning that the substance seized will be sent to the Functional Area of Health of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to proceed to the weighing analysis and study of the same.
