The Civil Guard of Tías arrested a person with the initials V.P., 28 years old and of German nationality, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of usurpation of civil status, for trying to deceive the agents by impersonating another person.
As explained by the Benemérita, the investigation began when a client staying at a hotel "aroused the suspicions of the agents", who "went to the place to identify him." At that time V.P. showed them the documentation of another person, "also of his nationality and with a certain physical resemblance", but the agents suspected that he was trying to pretend to be another person.
"Faced with this possible illicit act, the agents of the Investigation Area transferred V.P. – by virtue of article 16 of the Citizen Security Protection Law – to the Main Post of Tías where, in collaboration with the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of the aforementioned Post, a fingerprint comparison was carried out – or decadactilar review – with which his true identity was ascertained, by consulting them in the Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (SAID), for which he was immediately arrested for a crime of usurpation of civil status", they point out in a press release.
In addition, it was found that the detainee was wanted by the judicial authorities of Germany, who were trying to find out his whereabouts and address for crimes against property
From the Civil Guard they explain that article 401 of the Penal Code establishes prison sentences of six months to three years for those who usurp civil status or impersonate another person, even without causing patrimonial or other damage. The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Arrecife duty court.
