The National Police in Arrecife have arrested for the second time a man of Belgian nationality and 32 years of age, after skipping the restraining order that had been imposed on him two days before for a crime of gender violence.

As reported by La Voz, on the morning of August 26, the call was received to the 091 telephone number of the National Police, where several residents of the capital of Lanzarote stated that they were witnessing a couple's argument in the street, where the man had assaulted the woman.

The police officers immediately went to the place and were able to observe how several people were assisting a woman lying on the ground bleeding from her left leg. The police immediately requested an ambulance to come to the place, giving the first assistance until the arrival of the paramedics.

Once the victim was transferred to a hospital, the witnesses told the agents that the man who was in the vicinity in his vehicle had run over a woman after an argument between them.

The agents proceeded to identify the alleged perpetrator, who confirmed that moments before he had had an argument with his partner. Given the statements of the witnesses and the statements of the man, the agents of the National Police proceeded to his arrest as the perpetrator of a crime of gender violence.

Once the police proceedings were completed, the arrested person was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority. In addition, two days later, he was arrested again for violating the restraining order dictated by the Judicial Authority.
