An Ascan company worker died on Thursday afternoon at the Zonzamas landfill. As the Waste Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Domingo Cejas, confirmed to La Voz, the 41-year-old worker would have entered, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with the truck to the glass area of the waste treatment center to unload it.

The events took place at the Ecovidrio unloading plant, managed in Lanzarote by Ascan, in the same island landfill. At the moment, what happened in this work accident has not transpired. In addition, the case is now in court.

During Thursday night, firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium were required at the scene to try to locate the worker. Upon arrival, the Local Police informed them that the truck had been on for several hours, with the box raised and the control thrown on the ground. In addition to the employee's two cell phones, the company and the personal one, were inside the vehicle.

The Consortium reports that, with the help of a mechanical shovel, the firefighters were able to locate the body among the mountain of glass. At that time, the doctor of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) certified the death of the worker.

After the arrival of the Forensic Police, the Judicial Police and the judicial transfers, the removal of the corpse proceeded.
