A house in Puerto del Carmen suffered a fire on Tuesday afternoon, apparently due to a short circuit in the kitchen. Initially, the firefighters believed that there could be a victim inside the house, but luckily the house was empty. According to the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Tías, "Boluntis", the event occurred on Chinchorro Street at 5:22 p.m.
At that time, they received a call from the Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies (Cecoes) 112, which warned of a possible fire on the top floor of a house. In this same call, they warned that there could be an injured person inside the house.
Five firefighters from "Boluntis" left in a truck, which took "six minutes" to reach the area, according to the association. To access the interior of the house, the firefighters were forced to break the lock on the door, as other witnesses also warned that there could be victims inside.
After accessing the house and searching all the rooms, which were full of smoke, the firefighters confirmed that the building was empty. In addition, they carried out extinction and ventilation work. The fire occurred in the kitchen area, possibly due to a short circuit in the water heater, according to "Boluntis".
Also present at the scene were members of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, who, according to Boluntis, arrived "12 minutes late" to finish and certify the completion of the incident, as well as an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), Local Police and Civil Guard.
