A middle-aged man had to be rescued this Tuesday after falling into the void on the coast of Los Hervideros (Yaiza) and falling into the water unconscious and in a very difficult place to access.

Apparently, according to sources of people who witnessed the event, the affected person had previously suffered a seizure that caused him to lose consciousness and fall into the water from an approximate height of 11 meters. They also reported that, to avoid drowning, some witnesses jumped into the water and managed to put him safe on a nearby rocky surface. Once the notice was received at the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, numerous emergency services were notified, who worked hard to carry out the rescue.

Although initially the possibility of mobilizing a helicopter and firefighters was considered, it was finally an Emerlan team, supported by the Yaiza Local Police, who were able to bring the affected person, already conscious, to the surface. On the cliffs, the teams of two ambulances from the Red Cross and the Canary Emergency Service respectively were already waiting, who attended to the affected person for the pre-drowning condition and the numerous contusions he presented. Once stabilized at the scene, the young man was evacuated to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in a medicalized ambulance.
