A man in his 70s has drowned this Monday on the coast of Tinajo. At 2:58 p.m., the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium received a notice alerting that a man was "in trouble" on Bocachica beach, about 50 meters from the coast, next to the La Santa Sport hotel, according to this organization to La Voz.
Personnel from the Consortium, as well as members of Civil Protection, Emerlan, Guardia Civil and Local Police of Tinajo, have moved to the scene. When the firefighters arrived, the man had already died and it was a fishing boat that rescued the body.
"He was taken by a wave and they couldn't save him," said the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, who lamented this death.
A fishing boat from the area recovered the lifeless body of the affected person and transferred it to the La Santa dock, where the Guardia Civil took charge of its custody until the arrival of the judicial authority. The deceased was a foreign tourist, who was spending his holidays at the La Santa hotel.
