The Gran Canaria group Vocal Siete performed last Saturday at the Santo Domingo convent in Teguise, where they presented their second album, "Con voz propia" (With Own Voice). The event was part of the program being developed by the Casa-Museo del Timple, which chose the place with the aim of meeting the demands of the public, eager to attend the group's presentation concert.
"Con Voz Propia" is an album made up of 10 songs, three of which are written by the group's director, Manuel Estupiñán, while the rest are based on well-known songs, some of them from the 80s and 90s, and which have been made famous by groups such as La Guardia or Efecto Pasillo and singers such as Miguel Bosé, Juan Luis Guerra or Bob Marley among others. Vocal Siete is a group that surprises and excites, easily getting the public who attend their concerts to participate with them, following each of their instructions. The members of the group achieve in their performances that the public sings, claps and finally ends up dancing.
In the concert and presentation last Saturday, Vocal Siete was on stage for two hours without any rest, giving the best of themselves and easily getting the public to be delivered until the end of the concert. And Vocal Siete has qualities that few groups possess, since they don't just sing. In addition, with their voices and hands they make the most disparate sounds sound, from a guitar, percussion, electric bass, to maracas or jump ropes. Since its foundation in 2007, the group has not stopped and its presence is practically required at any good party worth its salt.
This second album has been recorded in the La Rampa studios, under the supervision of friend and sound technician Gustavo Sánchez, with Multitrack being in charge of the production with Paco Chinea at the helm, who has always bet on Canarian artists. The Councilor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, Olivia Duque, was present at the concert. Minutes before the performance began, she went to the dressing rooms to greet them and inquire about their work. Shortly before the performance ended, Duque presented them with the poster announcing their performance. The enthusiastic public asked them to continue singing and they, who had been very comfortable throughout the night, responded with two or three more encores. In addition, they did so by surprising the public, since they all got off the stage and through the central corridor of the convent they reached the vicinity of the exit door. Not only did they sing a new song, they also stayed to greet all those who approached them and signed their album. Vocal Siete once again captivated its audience.
