Tickets for the twentieth edition of the Lanzarote Visual Music Festival (FMVL) are now available since this Monday through the official website of the Department of Culture. The festival, which will take place from October 8th to 18th, 2025, once again bets on a program of artistic excellence, marked by sound innovation, scenic experimentation, and the fusion between music and the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote.
The Lanzarote Visual Music Festival, organized by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, celebrates twenty editions this year since its birth in 1989 by the artist Ildefonso Aguilar. "This festival symbolizes Lanzarote's ability to connect contemporary creation with territory. Music, visual arts, and the island landscape dialogue every October in a unique encounter in the world," declared the Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío.
Artists of this edition
The musical program of this twentieth edition features prominent names from the contemporary international scene. Among them is the Norwegian saxophonist Mette Henriette, who will open the festival on October 9th in the Cueva de los Verdes with an intimate and experimental proposal; the pianist Bugge Wesseltoft, a pioneer of jazz and electronic fusion, who will perform at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium, together with the legendary bassist Arild Andersen and percussionist Sanskriti Shrestha; and the unclassifiable British artist Keeley Forsyth, who will bring her vocal and theatrical intensity to Jameos del Agua.
Also performing will be Shida Shahabi, a Swedish composer of Iranian origin whose minimalist piano pieces have placed her among the great names in contemporary music; the trio Alizulh, formed by Héctor Matacherry and Santi Pérez, who combine sound creation and visual art from an insular perspective; and Lajalada, alter ego of the artist from Gran Canaria, Belén Álvarez Doreste, who explores new electronic and poetic landscapes.
Complementary activities
One of the most unique proposals of this edition is TIBATAJE. Aural affections of the Canary Islands, a sound installation by Pablo Sanz that can be visited in the Cube room of the CIC El Almacén with free admission. The work offers an immersive experience based on field recordings made on several islands of the archipelago, including the Tajogaite area, and proposes an expanded, sensory, and transformative listening of the Canarian soundscapes.
In addition to the concerts, the FMVL 2025 includes cinematographic proposals and meetings. One of the most special events will be the screening in the Buñuel Room of the CIC El Almacén of the film "Last and First Men", directed by the musician Jóhann Jóhannsson, with narration by Tilda Swinton. This visual and sound work of cult dialogues with the landscapes and the conceptual spirit of the festival.
