The SomoS theater company wins the Golden Willow at the El Sauzal Festival for the second year

The Lanzarote group won the top award for their work 'Letter to Dad'. In addition, Carmen Sancristóbal won the award for best female interpretation for her role in the same work

The SomoS Grupo Teatral de Lanzarote company has won the Golden Willow at the El Sauzal Theater Festival for the second year in a row.

The Lanzarote company won first prize at the Tenerife theater event, which celebrated its sixteenth edition this year, for its work 'Carta a Pap'á, a piece directed by Esther Vázquez, with sound and lighting by Antonio Orellana and with the interpretations of Carmen Sancristóbal, Facunda de León and Esther Vázquez herself. In addition, Carmen Sancristóbal won the “Tana López Peñalver” Award for Best Female Performance for her role as Inés in the same work.

“I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations, on my behalf and on behalf of the entire Corporation, to the SomoS Grupo Teatral company for this new success. It is not easy to win first prize two years in a row, which indicates the great work they are developing within amateur theater in the Canary Islands. Congratulations,” said the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo.

The Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alberto Aguiar, also wanted to convey his congratulations to the company. “The awarding of this prize is a boost to the excellent work that SomoS Grupo Teatral is developing, and it is a reference to the high level of amateur theater in Lanzarote, within which SomoS is one of its most prominent representatives. From the Culture Area of ​​the Cabildo we have supported both SomoS and other local companies, and we will continue to do so, since it is our obligation to value the performing arts of Lanzarote,” concluded Aguiar.
