The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, presented this Friday the poster for the San Ginés Festivities created by the Lanzarote artist Roberto Perdomo, an act that traditionally serves "as the starting gun for the most important festivities of the municipality", the mayor pointed out.
Accompanied by the Councilor for Festivities of the capital's City Council, Encarna Páez, the mayor wanted to congratulate and show her gratitude to the author, pointing out that "it is an honor for all the citizens of Arrecife to have this wonderful poster, very elegant and of great quality."
Páez joined these praises, who also congratulated the technical team of the Festivities area "for continuing to discover artistic talents like Roberto's, without having to leave Lanzarote."
For his part, Roberto Perdomo was "super grateful and even excited" and stated that for him "it is an honor to have made this poster that has the guincho as its main element, a very powerful symbol of Arrecife that is so present at the heraldic level throughout the municipality, that we practically don't even see it."
"I wanted in some way to sublimate the osprey from two senses, first for its status as a municipal symbol and of the institution that is closest to the people, such as the City Council, and also to wink at one of the most important biodiversity spaces we have in the capital, such as its fantastic marina," he explained.
Likewise, this year's poster has the peculiarity of "coming to life", as revealed during the presentation ceremony, through a GIF that will be distributed through social networks and that will also be present on the stage during the development of the San Ginés Festivities, declared Festivities of National Tourist Interest in 1965, and which will extend from August 12 to 25.
