Lanzarote and La Graciosa are preparing to receive Christmas with a renewed edition of the traditional Navidad Isleña, a program that continues to grow in quality and participation. The commitment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, to folklore, traditions and music as a cultural engine takes on greater prominence this year thanks to the investment in resources and the joint effort of all the municipalities of the island.
The Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío, highlighted in the presentation of the program held this morning at the Casa Museo del Campesino, the "commitment of the Institution" with the cultural and musical groups of the island: "This project represents a step forward. We want to provide the participating groups with the necessary resources so that they can develop their talent and be the protagonists of our Christmas.
He also added that "this year we have taken an important step to ensure that our traditions are enjoyed and respected as they deserve", stressing "the importance of working together to preserve the cultural richness of the island, strengthening the ties between generations and guaranteeing a prosperous future for our traditions".
A complete program that reaches every corner
The Navidad Isleña program will run from November 29, 2024 to January 3, 2025, drawing on the enormous folkloric wealth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. It includes performances by parrandas, choirs, ranchos de Pascua, folk groups and, for the second consecutive year, municipal music bands, thus consolidating their inclusion in these festivities.
These groups will tour the streets and squares of Arrecife, Teguise, Tinajo, San Bartolomé, Tías, Yaiza, Haría and La Graciosa, bringing the Christmas spirit to every corner of the island.
Last year's edition already marked a significant change in the quality and visibility of these groups, and this year it is consolidated with a program that not only celebrates tradition, but also promotes creativity and collaborative work. The objective is to offer a Christmas experience that encompasses audiences of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest, highlighting the value of popular culture as the central axis of these dates.
