The Canary Islands Youth Orchestra (JOCAN) performs this Thursday, July 24, at 8:00 p.m., at the San Bartolomé Municipal Theater, as part of its twenty-third meeting. The program includes the famous suite The Carnival of the Animals, by Camille Saint-Saëns, along with a work inspired by the archipelago's fauna: The Carnival of the Canary Animals. Tickets are still available through the ecoentradas.com portal, at the single price of 10 euros.

Promoted by the Culture area of the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development, this tour reaffirms the commitment to access to quality cultural proposals throughout the territory and the promotion of the professional development of new generations of performers.

Councilor Migdalia Machín has pointed out that “JOCAN represents one of the Government's most solid bets for a culture with a public sense, which accompanies excellent musical training and guarantees that its artistic result reaches the different islands, with an integrating vocation and rigor.”

The program begins with The Carnival of the Canary Animals, a work by composers Celia Rivero and Sergio Rodríguez, under the direction of the young Santiago Padilla. Next, The Carnival of the Animals, by Saint-Saëns, will be performed, directed by Víctor Pablo Pérez and performed by a chamber staff composed of eleven young musicians. The narration will be in charge of the Canarian singer-songwriter and writer Víctor Lemes, author of the script that accompanies the piece.

The performance in Lanzarote also incorporates accessibility resources, such as sensory backpacks for people with hearing problems, available free of charge upon request to the email [email protected], and the presence of a Spanish Sign Language interpreter on stage, thanks to the collaboration with the DISA Foundation.

The concert is recommended for ages 5 and up and combines artistic excellence, pedagogical content and an inclusive approach that reinforces JOCAN's role as a public project of reference for musical training and dissemination in the Canary Islands.
