The first edition of Be Water held this past Saturday on El Reducto beach, was marked by an intense day with more than 10 consecutive hours of sports and recreational outdoor activities, which has allowed hundreds of families to enjoy this enclave of the capital of Lanzarote practicing sports. For its part, the Arrecife City Council values the great reception that this first celebration has had.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Sports, Eli Merino, have announced that, after this great success, and the numerous congratulations received, the City Council will continue to promote more recreational and sports activities, outdoors, in the public spaces of the city.
Yonathan de León has remarked that the objective of Be Water was focused on transmitting to the citizens that they can, and should, live in a healthy way by practicing sports. For her part, Eli Merino, whose municipal areas coordinated the direct organization of these ten consecutive hours with water sports and on the sand, has stressed that Arrecife has unique public spaces where doing outdoor sports allows the whole family to participate in the same environment, as has been demonstrated on El Reducto beach.
From 09:00 to 21:00 hours, the Arrecife City Council offered football, rugby, handball, volleyball, tennis, paddle tennis, crossfit, Canarian wrestling, dinghy sailing, aquathlon, pilates, hit, jet skiing, swimming crossing and inflatable mats on El Reducto beach, which made the children experience a great recreational and healthy day.
The Department of Tourism, Commerce and Sports, under the direction of Eli Merino, coordinated all the activity, with the support of the Departments of Beaches and Acts and Events, directed respectively by Davinia Déniz, and Óscar López. The young patients of the Asociación Pequeño Valiente were some of the many groups that, invited by the City Council, enjoyed these activities.
