Teguise Town Council celebrates the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen, patron saint of sailors, with a wide program of activities in the Villa de Teguise and La Graciosa. The festivity will take place from July 7 to 22 in La Graciosa and from July 3 to 17 in La Villa where you can enjoy championships, festivals, wrestling, popular barbecue and foam parties, among others.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlights the importance of this celebration that shows the progress of the town throughout the years. “It is a pride to see how the participation of our neighbors in these festivities reflects the commitment and passion for our customs”, she points out.
In addition, the mayor thanks the participation of the festival commission, security and emergency forces and all the people, since “without them it would not be possible to organize and celebrate this festivity”, Duque points out.
For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Javier Díaz, invites citizens and visitors to participate in the Festivities of Our Lady of Carmen 2024, a celebration that is a reflection of traditions and popular roots. “We have designed a program that includes cultural, sports and religious events, ensuring enjoyment and participation for all types of audiences”, he highlights.

The Festivities of Our Lady the Virgin of Carmen will begin on July 3 with the traditional card championships. In La Graciosa they will begin on July 7 with the opening speech in the town square, by the cultural and sports association of Caleta de Sebo, Culdecase. For its part, in La Villa, on July 4, Doña Carmen Rosa Ramón Villalba will give the opening speech, which will begin the festivity with the musical performance of the Municipal School of Teguise, and on the 6th the first religious act will take place with the mass and offering to Our Lady the Virgin of Carmen accompanied by the A.F. La Gran Aldea.
From July 7 to 22, numerous activities aimed at all audiences will be held in La Graciosa. From workshops, exhibitions, competitions, children's workshops, documentaries, among other events. For its part, every day from July 12 to 20, starting at 8:00 p.m., a mass will be held in the town's parish.
On Friday, July 12, the XXX Acatife Festival will take place in the Municipal Tent of La Villa, which will feature the Taburiente group from the island of La Palma. The children's and adult playbacks will give way to the eve of the festivity, the Jallos Concert by Olga Cerpa and Mestisay, who will also be on the esplanade of the Caleta del Sebo pier on Tuesday, July 16, at 8:00 p.m.
Within the program of the Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Carmen, the activity Stories with philosophy is included, aimed at students from 7 to 15 years old. This event will take place in the Nieves Castillo Bonilla Municipal Library of La Villa de Teguise, in Lanzarote from July 1 to 12. The Solemn Religious Function in honor of Our Lady the Virgin of Carmen will be held on July 16 in La Villa at 12:00 noon, giving way to the land procession through the historic center. La Graciosa will host the Solemn Mass at 12:00 noon, the celebration of the word at 5:30 p.m. and later the maritime procession and floral offering in memory of those who died at sea. Once on land, the musical offering will be enlivened by the Parranda el Lagar de Teseguite and the A.F.C. Altaja.
