The Teguey Popular Music Group of San Bartolomé put the finishing touch to the festivities in honor of San Antonio de Padua in the town of Tías, presenting its show called Myths and Legends, in the municipal theater.

Under the musical direction of Professor Leo García Corujo, the musicians and soloists presented some of the legends and myths that have been passed down from generation to generation and that have more to do with tradition and fable than with reality, but which generate great interest among the local population and those who visit Lanzarote. An island very given to this type of stories that still surprise locals and strangers.

Teguey surprised with its show with musical content of its own creation and with 11 compositions related to some legends and myths, which are still in force today: the Legend of Queen Ico, daughter of the kings Zonzamas and Fayna, who was subjected to the smoke test. That of Hilario, a legendary character who after the war in the Philippines lived on an islet in Timanfaya with only the company of his camel. Another of the legends was that of Pedro Perico, a daring Canarian aborigine who decided to fight against a male goat that the islanders considered the devil disguised as a beast.

To these compositions were also added those of the Sorondongo of traditions, which is accompanied by cheerful and repetitive music, composed of quartets and a chorus. Volcán Soñador, Risco de Famara, a mountainous cliff that is home to the highest point of Lanzarote where the Peñas del Chache are located at 670 meters above sea level. Olivina, a volcanic stone with a peculiar and attractive green color, mostly appears in Lanzarote.

Raíz Aborigen, is a manifestation that has taken on its own personality over time, collecting the idiosyncrasies of the Canarian people, these and other songs were performed during the concert. Teguey also had three dance couples formed by young students from the Miguel Medina Dance Academy, Rosmen, Ella, Gabriel, Mikaela, Steven and Yureima performing elegant dances with dizzying choreographies that were highly applauded by the public.

The shepherd's jump was also present, a game with a long tradition in the Canary Islands, comes from the movements that shepherds made in the abrupt orography of the islands, as well as the Silbo Gomero and the resonating of the Bucio. During the development of the concert, Iván Tempera, an Argentine artist residing in Lanzarote and specialized in plastic art, digital illustration and muralism, created a magnificent work characterizing Pedro Perico.

The message of the Teguey Popular Music Group of San Bartolomé reached the public with an impeccable staging, which was highly valued, receiving as a prize the applause of an audience that stood up and asked them to continue, a request that was answered with the Islas Canarias pasodoble.
