Rosana commits to composing a habanera for the Arrecife Choir during the XXXIII Habaneras and Sea Music Meeting

El Charco de San Ginés in Arrecife hosted on the night of Thursday, August 24, the XXXIII Meeting of Habaneras and Sea Music 'Braulio de León', created by the initiative of the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz of Arrecife in the year 1989 and championed by the "Amigos de Portonao", without a doubt this initiative has been a giant step towards the recovery of this tradition.

On stage were the Coral Arrecife, Quimbao La Nuit and Son Por Tres. During the performance of the Coral, director and choristers were surprised by the singer-songwriter, Favorite Daughter of Arrecife and Town Crier Rosana, who was present at the event, committing to compose a Habanera for them.

The capital, a city with a maritime tradition, was impregnated with the marine sounds of habaneras and their music with a salty taste. Habaneras are part of the cultural past of the islands where they arrived like the waves of the sea caressing our land and stayed among us taking deep roots and since always the elders speak to us with nostalgia of the habaneras, remembering their lyrics and music.

In this edition participated the "Coral Arrecife", founded in 2007 when a group of friends and friends fond of choral singing met with the sole and healthy illusion of interpreting and singing the "Misa Canaria" by composer Luis Prieto in the festivity of the celebration dedicated to San Ginés Santo Patrón de Arrecife and on the occasion of remembering the first director, Braulio de León Navarro, an illustrious citizen of Arrecife and tireless teacher of all who in some way have belonged to the world of choral music in this city.

The Coral Arrecife, directed by Professor Hernán Lorenzo, performed a varied repertoire of habaneras and some songs of Canarian root, the choristers with their very tuned voices accompanied on this occasion by four great music professionals on piano, electric bass, electric and Spanish guitar, achieved with flying colors the objective set and which was rewarded by the applause of the public.

Secondly, the musical group "Son X Tres" took the stage, a group of traditional Cuban music which recreates the style and concept of the most traditional format of Cuban music where they also interspersed some anthological themes such as "Lágrimas Negras", the 8 very animated musicians won over the public with their Caribbean rhythms getting some spectators to leave their seats to mark some dances.

Next it was the turn for the group "Quimbao la Nuit", a very lively group that does not go unnoticed, but also marks people to the point that everyone who tries it usually repeats. "Quimbao la Nuit", offered a varied but recognizable repertoire, a traditional sound aesthetic and interaction with the public, the Canarian, endorsed by the great professional experience of its members as well as its extensive career as an ensemble "Quimbao la Nuit", is the sextet of son in vogue in the Canary Islands, they were in charge of closing the "XXXIII Meeting of Habaneras and Sea Music Braulio de León".
