More than 600 people enjoyed the celebration of Geek Pride Day last Saturday, May 25, at the Casa de la Juventud in Arrecife. The day, organized by the Youth Area of the capital's City Council and in collaboration with various associations and groups (Shin Sekai, La Legión Perdida, La Gruta del Golem, Star Wars Gran Canaria and Lanzate Asociación LGTBI+Canarias), became an "authentic party" where creativity was the protagonist.

Quevedo, who has expressed his "satisfaction" with the response of young and not so young people to the call, has pointed out that "we are very happy with the participation figures achieved. Geek Pride Day has been a unique opportunity to "share passions and discover new hobbies". The diversity of activities has allowed "everyone to find something of interest and fully enjoy this special day", the mayor stressed.

From ten in the morning, attendees enjoyed a wide range of activities; from a gaming area with video games and virtual reality, to different board game workshops. In addition, Warhammer enthusiasts participated in miniature painting workshops, and an exciting Magic: The Gathering card tournament took place.

Japanese culture also had a prominent space and Star Wars characters visited the event both in the morning and in the afternoon, adding a special touch for fans of the saga.

Creativity was a central element of Geek Pride Day. Hama workshops, comic creation, and various manual projects such as the creation of geeky bags, lightsabers and magic wands were carried out. There were also activities related to video games and diversity, providing an inclusive and diverse experience for all participants. In the afternoon, the event culminated with a K-POP dance contest in the auditorium.

The success of this day reinforces the commitment of the Arrecife Department of Youth to promoting activities that foster creativity, inclusion and collaborative spirit among the city's youth.
