Los Campesinos surprised this Saturday, November 26 with the staging of "Mareantes". It was a very elaborate show where the smallest detail was taken care of after many months of searching in the archives in order to bring it to the stage of the Víctor Fernández Gopar "El Salinero" theater without losing the essence. The stated objective was to get the audience to remember and many others to learn for the first time how the men and women of Lanzarote managed to face the famine that was drowning them. On occasions, the only resources they had to feed their families were obtained by working in the thirsty fields and others by enlisting in a boat also looking for sustenance extracted from the sea.

"Mareantes", an innovative show never seen before and where Los Campesinos, without losing the root of origin, presented a totally renovated musical repertoire with a content in each of its verses that reflected the seafaring and peasant traditions and that currently, to a lesser extent, remain in time. The choreographies in each of their dances were, on this occasion, much more paused and were accompanied by the chords of seguidillas, folias, isas and malagueñas, highlighting the seafaring and peasant clothing such as that used by the women and men of Lanzarote in those years.

It is divided into four acts called "Salineras, Ventolina, Idílico and Orilla", which reflect unpublished contemporary dance choreographies masterfully staged by the dancer, Eleonora Marcatali.

Los Campesinos, on this occasion, decided to unite their voices with that of a young woman, Jenelle García, in charge of interpreting two themes with great roots and that are part of the anthology of Canarian song, such as, "Arrorró" and "Fúlgida luna". In this way, she put an end to "Mareantes" and the public stood up, rewarding the good work carried out with their applause.

It is also worth highlighting that the scenography was very successful with seafaring objects, glass buoys and weirs that are currently authentic museum pieces, to which must be added the photographic archive projected during the show, a reflection of what that Lanzarote was, peasant and seafaring. The staging of "Mareantes" was possible thanks to the technical work of Luis de León and Shelma in sound and lighting, the musical direction of Carmelo Pérez, Benito Cabrera as musical advisor and the artistic direction of Miguel Ángel Corujo.
