Las Cucharas beach, in Costa Teguise, has for the first time a sand Nativity scene. In it, the scene of the birth of Jesus has been recreated in a different way.
The sculptors of this work, of Italian nationality, wanted to set it in a marine environment, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the town as a tourist destination.
"We are very happy and the visitor is too. It is the first time that we have made the Costa Teguise Nativity scene and on top of sand. It was an ambitious project and this is the result", says the Councilor for the Elderly, Culture and Festivities Area, Nori Machín.
In order to prevent vandalism, the City Council has placed a fence around the Nativity scene and a surveillance camera in the area.
"It is a pilot project"
Machín explains that "now it is a pilot project and that is why it is a small Nativity scene", but indicates that "the idea is to achieve a Nativity scene like the one in Las Canteras on Las Cucharas beach".
