Around 2,000 people gathered in the José Ramírez Cerdá park next to the Music Kiosk in Arrecife on the eve of Canary Islands Day. Attendees were able to enjoy the concert offered by Los Sabandeños, who for two hours made the numerous audience vibrate, who did not stop applauding, singing and even dancing to each of the songs from the extensive repertoire they had chosen for such a special night.
The Canarian popular music group was created in 1965 on the island of Tenerife by Elfidio Alonso. Without a doubt, they are the greatest exponents of traditional music from the islands and the most recognized Canarian group internationally, thus becoming the most laureated group in the Canary Islands. In 2007 they received the 'Diamond Disc' from the S.G.A.E. for having exceeded 2,000,000 million copies sold.
For the concert in Arrecife, Los Sabandeños chose a select repertoire interpreting some of the songs they have recorded on their more than 70 albums such as 'Yolanda', 'El mar y el Cielo', 'Solo le pido a Dios', 'Guantanamera', 'El cuarto de Tula', without forgetting the songs with Canarian roots such as Seguidillas, Malagueñas, Isas, Folias and Saltonas. Los Sabandeños infected the public with their music and the powerful voices of the soloists and choirs. The thirty members gave it their all, leaving the bar very high as always wherever they go.
Among the audience were the President of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez from Lanzarote, the Mayor of Arrecife Yonathan de León, the Councilor for Festivities Echedey Eugenio and other colleagues from the corporation, who were able to enjoy the end of the concert with the interpretation of the pasodoble 'Islas Canarias', to which the public also joined their voices and left their seats dancing very animatedly. At the end of the song, the attendees asked them to continue, a request that was accepted by performing several encores.
