The Arrecife Carnival 2025 begins to beat strongly after the meeting held this Monday with the carnival groups and chaired by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, at the Citizen Participation Center 'El Zaguán'.
Representatives of all carnival groups —adult and children's murgas, comparsas, batucadas, float builders and traditional carnival— participated in this meeting where some details of the festivities that will extend from February 21 to March 5 were advanced.
Next Friday, January 31, at 8:00 p.m., the Canary Islands Park will host the official presentation of the 2025 Carnival, to which both the media, carnival groups and the general public are invited. It will be the anticipation of the most participatory and exciting carnival.
This event, which, along with other major events of the festivities, will be under the artistic direction of Orlando Callero, will be an original show inspired by this year's allegory: "World of Fantasy."
During the evening, the official poster will be revealed, for whose design we have worked hand in hand with the Pancho Lasso School of Arts and Crafts, as well as the program and the name of the town crier, which this year promises to be a great show again, following the line marked since Echedey Eugenio assumed the Festivities Area.
The Deputy Mayor stressed during the meeting that "Together we are more", deeply thanking the groups for being the true engine of the magic of the Arrecife Carnival.
"Last year was the year of changes; this year, the year of consolidation and details. That is why we continue with the working groups to listen, address the specific needs of each group and work hand in hand with them," added the councilman, stressing that "the groups are the soul of our carnival, and their opinion and participation are essential for this festival to continue growing."
Among the novelties that were put on the table, the proposal to recover the Queen's Gala, which has not been held since 2018, as well as the Children's Queen's Gala and the Senior Citizens' Gala, the latter in collaboration with the Senior Citizens' Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, stands out. In addition, the activities of the city center will be moved to Puerto Naos to ensure the well-being of all residents. "We must respect both the right to fun and the right to rest of our neighbors. We believe that moving the events that were originally held in the center is the best way to achieve that balance," said Eugenio.
Other aspects to highlight is that the fairgrounds will be located in Agramar, as in the previous edition, but will also have an improved gastronomic area and a children's area.
The program will include classic events of these festivities such as the opening speech and drag gala, which on this occasion will be held on the same day, February 21, and the route of the traditional float parade on Carnival Monday, which will start from the Cruz Roja roundabout, is extended. From there, and up to the Ciudad Deportiva roundabout, a noise-free zone will be established to ensure inclusivity. In addition, a grandstand will be installed so that the public can enjoy comfortably.
There will be the traditional Carnival, the Day Carnival, the adult and children's murga contests, comparsa exhibition, verbenas, parades, concerts, the expected burial of the sardine, the youth Carnival, the special day for seniors and many other proposals.
"We want each group and each resident of Arrecife to have their protagonism and to go out to the street to enjoy, because the Arrecife Carnival is lived in the street," said Eugenio.
