The First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week in Gran Canaria four accused of threatening a person in Lanzarote with kidnapping a relative if they did not deposit several thousand euros into different accounts. There is a fifth person investigated who is at an unknown whereabouts.

This case was scheduled to be tried in July 2025, but was then postponed. In total, the alleged fraudsters would have managed to get the victim to transfer to them up to 6,500 euros in six bank transfers to several different accounts.

The events allegedly occurred in November 2023, when the victim received two calls and several messages from WhatsApp where they demanded that he pay certain amounts of money, in exchange for not kidnapping one of his relatives.

In total, the victim made six bank transfers to the four accused S.J.S.G., S.D.B, F.S.H. and A.E.C.C. for a value of 6,500 euros.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office's accusation, these four defendants and the fifth person whose whereabouts are unknown had agreed to obtain an illicit patrimonial benefit.

The accused "have shown an attitude of repentance for the facts and have confessed their authorship in court". In addition, they have paid 1,680 euros to the victim.

For this reason, the Public Prosecutor's Office requests for each of them six months in prison for a crime of conditional threats. To which it adds an indemnity for the value of the defrauded money, which would have to be returned by the four accused.
