This week a new edition of the Lanzarote Young Entrepreneurs School has been launched, an initiative of the Department of Education of the Cabildo, whose main objective is to "promote the personal and professional development of young people between 14 and 20 years old, through the entrepreneurial culture and financial education".

The councilor of the area, Myriam Barros, welcomed the 35 students who are part of the sixth promotion of this project, which in this edition includes the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and education in mental health such as effective emotional management.

The Young Entrepreneurs School will be developed in person at the Integrated Vocational Training Center (CIFP) Zonzamas, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., until next June.

It is estimated that the school's offer has initially reached more than 1,000 students on the island. After a selection based on "the desire to participate", 20 girls and 15 boys will finally take the two final cycles, which are entitled "Skills, attitudes and values of the entrepreneurial person" and "Ideating solutions for a better society".

The students who will participate in the program come from the secondary education institutes Agustín Espinosa, Blas Cabrera Felipe, Las Salinas, Playa Honda, Las Maretas, Argana and Altavista.

The Lanzarote Young Entrepreneurs School aspires to contribute to developing the skills, competencies and values that young people need in the digital age, making use of new technologies.

The system of teaching the classes of this training initiative "is very innovative, since it seeks to stimulate teamwork through challenges, based on the methodology of learning by doing and through play." It also includes the design thinking methodology to devise creative solutions to social problems.

"This project seeks to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to adapt to unforeseen events as well as to acquire the necessary digital skills, something fundamental in the changing context in which we live," explained Myriam Barros, Councilor for Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
