Turismo de Canarias will attend between October 16 and 18 in Las Vegas (Nevada), where the 27th edition of the World Route Development Forum (Routes World), the most important international meeting of the commercial aviation industry in the world, is held.
During this global conference, where airlines, airports and destinations work together to assess connectivity and develop new routes and frequencies, the Turismo de Canarias team will meet with those responsible for the most important airlines in the world, "to present them with strong arguments that will help in the decision to open new routes or improve existing ones, in addition to continuing with the diversification of markets, which is essential to increase the competitiveness of the destination," explains the Minister of Tourism, Yaiza Castilla.
Canarias arrives at the event as one of the best connected tourist destinations in the world, as it has 731 routes operated by 53 airlines that connect with 146 airports and has 9.4 million seats scheduled for the winter, 30.7% more than in 2019.
In fact, Turismo de Canarias has been nominated by the airlines to compete for the Routes award for the best team in the world in attracting routes, for which it is competing with Cape Town Air Access (South Africa), Visit Malta and two countries of great importance represented by Tourism Australia and JNTO (Japan Tourism Office).
To this end, meetings have already been arranged with a large number of airlines, including American Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada, Air Transat, Westjet, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa Group, Easyjet, Lot Polish, Vueling, Wizz Air, TAP, Jetblue, Edelweiss, Condor, Brussels Airlines, among others.
Castilla has especially valued this meeting of the world's aviation sector as "the opportunity to obtain exclusive and first-hand information from this industry, on which the Canary Islands is highly dependent, as well as access to first-class networking".
