The HD Group, owner of the Hiperdino supermarket chain, will inaugurate the largest hotel in Lanzarote this Friday, December 1. This controversial project will be operated by the international hotel chain Barceló, under the name Barceló Playa Blanca”.

The complex, which is located on a 100,000 square meter plot in the tourist town of Yaiza and located next to the sea, opens in the midst of a debate about the tourist saturation of Lanzarote and degrowth. In addition, it has 720 rooms and 1,400 beds.

"The culmination of this project represents an extraordinary achievement for Grupo HD and an important milestone for tourism in the Canary Islands," said Andrés Domínguez, CEO of Grupo HD. "We are delighted to share this achievement with Canarian society and welcome the first guests this December 1."

The hotel seeks to create a premium experience, with an exclusive area for adults that offers exclusive services. In turn, guests can enjoy a lobby bar, 8 restaurants, including themed market, Canarian, Asian and Mexican restaurants, as well as a Sport Bar and three Beach Clubs, one of them reserved exclusively for premium clients.

The complex has a main infinity pool 180 meters long, another heated infinity pool for premium clients, a convention center with capacity for 800 people, an animation theater of 2,000 square meters, several meeting rooms, a Wellness Center at height with Spa and gym with sea views and a sports center with multi-sports and paddle tennis courts. As well as, leisure areas, a children's pool with a pirate ship and for teenagers there is also a climbing wall and leisure rooms adapted to their needs.

All rooms have sea views and have been designed with a diaphanous approach, seeking that oasis of relaxation and exclusivity for customers. There are six types of rooms, some even with a private pool.

The common areas of the hotel have been decorated with vegetation characteristic of the island, with more than 80 species. In this sense, the company assures that it is a tribute to the Lanzarote artist César Manrique "with the inclusion of some Jameos."

This hotel project is also accompanied by a commercial promenade on the seafront, located in front of the hotel, called Paseo LASAL. According to the HD group, this space will feature "prestigious" brands and restaurants and will open its doors on January 20, 2024.
