The Canary Islands will lead tourism sales in Spain in the fourth quarter with a growth of 26% compared to 2019, according to Exceltur, an association that includes the main companies in the sector, in the document of tourism perspectives and business balance that has just been published.
After the archipelago, the largest increase in sales is expected in the Balearic Islands (+23.7%), the Andalusian coast (+15.9%) and Valencia (+17.6%), together with the main urban destinations, Madrid (+19.7%), Barcelona (+17.1%).
The 2,000 companies consulted by Exceltur, made up of 29 large companies such as Meliá, Iberostar, NH, Hesperia, Iberia or Renfe, have improved their forecasts for the fourth quarter of 2023 and nationally expect a growth of 16% in sales compared to pre-pandemic figures.
By subsectors, the employers' association foresees an improvement in sales of 18.1% in passenger transport, 17% in hotels, and 16.4% in leisure equipment.
Travel agencies and car rental companies foresee a slightly lower growth, of 9.7% and 8.5% respectively.
