This Monday, the Anthem of the Seas cruise ship of the company Royal Caribbean, which with a capacity for 4,180 passengers and a crew of 1,500 people, is the second largest cruise ship in the world, returned to the port of Los Mármoles in Arrecife, coming from Funchal.
The Anthem of the Seas opened the cruise season in Arrecife on September 16 and this Monday it visits the capital of Lanzarote for the third time to depart this Monday at 8:00 p.m. to the city of Las Palmas.
"The arrival of cruise ships is very important for the city of Arrecife and the merchants and hoteliers of the city," explains Armando Santana, Councilor for Tourism of the City Council of the capital.
"Some cruise passengers who arrive at our port decide to visit the island of Lanzarote, especially with scheduled excursions to tourist centers, but there is a large part of them who stay in Arrecife buying and enjoying the hospitality and gastronomy of the city," he says.
Santana also highlights the particular importance of cruises for Arrecife, which "is not a tourist city and has very limited accommodation, with only four hotels."
The Anthem of the Seas has 347 meters in length, a gross tonnage of 167,800 tons and has what was the first paragliding simulator at sea, a watchtower crane that transports passengers to more than 90 meters high.
The next cruise ship to dock in Arrecife will be the Celebrity Silhouette, which with a capacity for 2,900 passengers, will arrive this Thursday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. from Vigo and will depart the same day at 7:00 p.m. to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
