The Plenary of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, held this Thursday on the island of La Graciosa, has approved the request for an agreement to advance in the drafting of the modernization, improvement and increase of competitiveness plans of Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise.
The president of the Corporation, and head of Lanzarote Tourism, Oswaldo Betancort, explained that "the Cabildo will allocate a financial sheet of one million euros for the drafting of these plans, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands through Gestur S.A, the company that will prepare these important documents." "The objective of these plans," as stated by the island's president, "is to modernize and renovate all hotel, non-hotel and commercial infrastructures, as well as public spaces and equipment to give more value to these tourist destinations that are already consolidated on our island, such as Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise."
Likewise, Betancort highlighted that "these strategic plans not only seek to modernize the destination, but also to increase competitiveness, with a one hundred percent sustainable development, that respects our environment, while incentivizing employment and the economy on our island."
The Lanzarote president also defended the coordination and consensus with the town councils and the agents involved for the elaboration of these modernization plans, fundamental tools for the development of our island and the improvement of the quality of life of the people of Lanzarote.
