The island of Lanzarote received a total of 314,382 tourists in February, almost 11,000 more people than last year, according to data from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
In percentage terms, this means 3.5% more travelers compared to February 2024, which adds to the 15.8% growth that occurred in the second month of last year compared to February 2023, when 262,000 tourists arrived.
Among them, 280,604 arrived directly in Lanzarote and another 33,778 arrived first on another island before moving and staying overnight in Lanzarote.
The growth compared to last year seems smaller, but it must be taken into account that February 2024 had one more day, as it was a leap year.
Almost half of the tourists who arrived this February were British (154,427), followed by Germans (36,438), who in winter continue to outnumber the Irish (30,336).
In fourth place was French tourism with almost 25,000 arrivals in February, followed by peninsular Spanish tourism, which accounted for just over 17,000 tourists.
Next, the group of Nordic countries, with just over 11,000 tourists, occupies the sixth position.
