The Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted this Friday the partners of the Beaches without Limits project, an initiative financed with Next Generation EU funds that seeks to transform the sun and beach tourism offer into sustainable and timeless experiences. With funding of 583,400 euros, which represents 83% of the total project funding, this program is part of the Spain Tourism Experiences plan and is committed to the diversification and modernization of the sector.

The president of the Cabildo and Minister of Tourism of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the importance of this project for the destination and its role as a driver of an innovative tourism model. “From Lanzarote, we continue working on quality, sustainable tourism that adapts to new market trends. And with Beaches without Limits we take a further step in the deseasonalization and improvement of the competitiveness of our beaches, betting on experiences that go beyond sun and sand,” he said.

The Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society (SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote) coordinates four of the fourteen actions of the project, which will be developed jointly with four other leading tourist destinations: Costa del Sol, Almería, Santander and Rías Baixas. These initiatives include the creation of a brand that identifies and enhances experiences on the beaches, the development of innovative tourism products and the implementation of digital tools to improve promotion and the visitor experience.

The CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, stressed the impact that this project will have on the island's tourism strategy. “Lanzarote leads a tourism management model that is committed to authenticity, sustainability and differentiation. 'Beaches without Limits' allows us to reinforce this vision with concrete actions that highlight our coastline and its natural and cultural wealth,” he explained.

“With this initiative, Lanzarote not only positions itself at the forefront of experiential tourism, but also strengthens its role as a benchmark in the modernization of the sector. Collaboration between destinations and commitment to innovation will be key to attracting higher quality tourism and ensuring a more balanced and sustainable development of the sector,” added Fernández.

Innovative and sustainable experiences

This first meeting in Lanzarote was attended by representatives of the Tourism Service of Rías Baixas of the Pontevedra Provincial Council, Ruth González Reyes and Cristina González Carballa; of the Municipal Tourism Company of Santander, Edurne Vidal López-Tormos; of the Municipal Company Almería Turística, Carmelo Torres García; and on behalf of Tourism and Planning of Costa del Sol (Málaga), Lourdes Navarrete Otero and Rafael Fuentes García, who expressed their gratitude for the hospitality of the Cabildo during their visit and for participating in “a necessary initiative in the face of destinations that have an incredible boost
today, citing as an example the island of Lanzarote, which leads growth in employability and economic income compared to other tourist destinations in Spain.”

In this regard, Oswaldo Betancort celebrated the data provided by the industry, but stressed that efforts are focused on consolidating and strengthening this positive trend for the benefit of the residents of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. “From Lanzarote we are happy to be part of the promoters of this initiative, which was born with a clear objective: to transform sun and beach tourism, extending its enjoyment throughout the year through innovative and sustainable experiences, in a context in which diversification and quality are essential for competitiveness, which allows us to revalue our coastline,
equipping it with new attractions that go beyond traditional tourism,” concluded the president.
