Lanzarote airport experiences the largest growth in arrivals among the major airfields in the Canary Islands

The César Manrique Airport in Lanzarote received a total of 693,560 passengers in April, which represents an increase of 10.2% compared to April 2019 and 7.5% in relation to the same month of last year. This is the largest increase among the major airports in the Canary Islands. 

In the archipelago as a whole, more than 4 million passengers have arrived by air this April, that is, 6.5% more than those who arrived in the same month of 2019 and 6.8% compared to April of last year.

Of the total number of travelers registered last April, 4,015,098 corresponded to passengers on commercial flights, of which 2,378,239 traveled on international flights (3.6% more than in 2019 and 4.2% more than in 2022) and 1,636,859 did so on national flights (10.5% more than in 2019 and 10.6% more than last year).

On the other hand, 35,642 aircraft movements were managed, which means 3.8% more than in April 2019 and an increase of 3.4% over the same month of 2022. In addition, 2,517 tons of merchandise were transported, representing a recovery of 81.3% compared to the same month of 2019 and 94.3% over 2022.



Gran Canaria and Tenerife receive more than one million passengers each in April

The Gran Canaria Airport registered the highest number of passengers in this fourth month of the year, with a total of 1,166,198 travelers, representing an increase of 5.6% over the month of April 2019 and an increase of 8.6% compared to the same month of last year.

It is followed by the Tenerife South Airport, which with 1,023,097 passengers accounts for an increase of 8.5% compared to 2019 and 6.2% over 2022; after the Lanzarote airport is Fuerteventura, with 507,950 (+3.6% and +2.2%); Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 507,893 (+5.2% and +8.6%); La Palma, with 115,012 (-9.5% and +0.8%), El Hierro, with 24,161 (+16.1% and +8%) and La Gomera, which with 10,090 passengers, registers the highest percentage growth, with an increase of 91.7% compared to the same month of 2019 and 43.4% more than the passengers reached in April 2022.



Between January and April, 16 million people arrived in the Canary Islands by plane

The Canary Islands airports have registered 16,215,124 passengers so far this year, exceeding by 5.6% the accumulated data from January to April of 2019 and by 22.9% those of 2022.

Of the number of travelers on commercial flights, 10,028,629 corresponds to passengers on international flights (1.8% more than the accumulated figure for 2019 and 23.2% more than the same period in 2022) and 5,982,636 to passengers on national flights (10.8% more than before the pandemic and 22.4% more than last year).

Up to and including April, 143,455 aircraft movements were managed, 2.4% more than in 2019 and an increase of 12% over the same accumulated period of 2022. In addition, 10,157 tons of merchandise were transported, which represents a recovery of 82.3% compared to the same months of 2019 and 94% compared to January-April 2022.
