The César Manrique-Lanzarote registered a total of 622,198 arrivals last February, which represents an increase of 12.7% compared to the same month of 2019. This is the largest increase of all the airports in the Canary Islands with respect to pre-pandemic data.
The number of tourists who landed at Lanzarote airport in February is also 26% higher than the total number of arrivals in the same month last year.
After César Manrique, the Canary Island airport that grew the most in number of arrivals compared to pre-pandemic data was Tenerife South, which with 1,055,210 passengers, accounts for an increase of 10.7% compared to 2019 and 28% compared to 2022.
At the airport of Fuerteventura, arrivals amounted to 476,996 tourists, 11.1% more than in February 2019 and 28% compared to February last year.
In Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 428,198 arrivals, the increases represent 9.3% in relation to pre-pandemic data and 20.1% compared to February 2022.
The Airport of Gran Canaria, despite registering the highest number of passengers in this second month of the year with 1,162,836 people, increases its number of arrivals by only 3.3% over February 2019, but the same data represents an increase of 30.7% compared to February last year.
La Palma, with 102,690 (-7.5% and +48%), El Hierro, with 19,081 (+7% and +12.7%) and La Gomera, with 6,776 passengers, which represents an increase of 51.6% compared to the same month of 2019 and 28.8% more than the passengers reached in February 2022.
Nearly 4 million arrivals throughout the Canary Islands
All the airports in the Canary Islands have closed the month of February 2023 with 3,873,985 passengers, thus exceeding by 8% the data of the same month of 2019, pre-pandemic year, and which, in addition, represents an increase of 27.9% compared to the figures of February 2022.
In February 2023, 33,776 aircraft movements were managed, which means 3.9% more than in 2019 and an increase of 17.2% compared to 2022. In addition, 2,353 tons of merchandise were managed, which represents a recovery of 87.8% compared to the same month of 2019 and 84% compared to February 2022.
Of the total number of travelers registered in February, 3,813,702 corresponded to passengers on commercial flights, of which 2,451,351 traveled on international flights, increasing 4.7% compared to February 2019 and 29.9% of 2022, and 1,362,351 did so on domestic flights, 12.1% more than before the pandemic and 23.9% more than last year.
