The César Manrique airport in Lanzarote foresees a total of 1,841 air operations, between departures and arrivals, for Easter 2022. This figure is 5.6% higher than in 2019, the year before the start of the coronavirus pandemic, when there were 1,743 operations.
According to data provided by Aena, international flights will concentrate the highest number of operations at the Lanzarote airport, with a total of 953, compared to 888 national operations.
The day with the most operations at the Lanzarote airport between this Friday, April 8, and Sunday the 17th will be, precisely, the last day of Easter. Specifically, a total of 232 operations are expected that day, a figure even higher than the last day of the holiday in 2019, when a total of 221 were carried out.
On the contrary, the day with the fewest air operations expected at the César Manrique airport is Friday the 15th, with a total of 128. In this case, the figure is lower than that recorded on the same day of Easter 2019, when 138 were carried out.
If we compare the data with 2021, when the island was experiencing one of the worst moments of the pandemic, they reflect a percentage increase of 198%. Last year, only 616 operations were carried out at the Lanzarote airport. However, it should be noted that at that time Spain was immersed in the third wave, with most of the communities with perimeter closures that prevented the population from leaving them. In addition, the international reality was similar, and many countries had their borders closed.
It should be remembered that for Easter it was announced that the air seats between Lanzarote and the peninsula would increase by some 21,000 more seats than in 2019. In addition, Binter reported on the increase in connections with Madeira, and Iberia Express announced the increase in frequencies with Lanzarote during Easter.
