The Ministry of Housing, through the Canarian Housing Institute, directed by Antonio Ortega, has published a new call for housing rental aid for 2024 and 2025, with a budget exceeding 16 million euros.
This measure includes a line of subsidies for the rental or transfer of use of housing or rooms for tenants or assignees with limited economic resources, and another line of subsidies for young people up to 35 years old residing in municipalities or small population centers.
The rental income of the contract will be limited to 600 euros per month, except in 24 of the 88 municipalities of the Canary Islands, which amounts to 900. In Lanzarote, they are San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías, and Yaiza.
The rest of the Canarian municipalities in which the limit income increases are Adeje, Arico, Arona, Candelaria, El Rosario, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Granadilla de Abona, Guía de Isora, Güímar, Mogán, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, San Miguel de Abona, Santa Brígida, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago del Teide, La Oliva, Tazacorte, Pájara, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Puerto de la Cruz.
It will also be possible to reach 900 euros per month in the case of large families or members with disabilities. In the case of a room, the general limit is set at 300 euros per month; while in any of the 24 municipalities mentioned, it will be 450 euros per month.
In this line, these subsidies are financed by the State with 12,557,760 euros for the years 2024 and 2025, charged to the State Plan, as well as by the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands with 3,767,328 euros for the same period.

The main recipients of this subsidy will be those adults residing in Spain who have a housing rental contract in the Canary Islands and have annual income referring to 2023 not exceeding 3 times IPREM (Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income). In certain circumstances up to 4, in the case of large families of the general category, people with disabilities and victims of terrorism, and up to 5 times, for large families of the special category and people with disabilities with a recognized degree equal to or greater than 33%.
