The Mamma Mì Pizza e Tradizione Napoletana restaurant in Playa Honda has just received the ‘Ospitalitá Italiana’ seal from the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Spain.

This is the first pizzeria in the archipelago to receive this certification, which recognizes those Italian restaurants outside of Italy that guarantee the standards of maximum quality and mastery of Italian cuisine. It also recognizes in this case being a “mirror of the most authentic knowledge and flavors of the true Neapolitan tradition.”

In April of last year, Fabrizio Vaio, head of the dining room, and his partner, Maurizio Ferrillo, master pizza maker, who already had a successful pizzeria in Naples, decided to move their concept to Lanzarote and opened Mammi Mi in Playa Honda.

Our ingredients are 100% Italian, or from the Canary Islands in the case of vegetables,” Vaio explained to La Voz. “We are very happy to have received this award that recognizes excellence in the preparation of true Neapolitan pizza and the quality of traditional Italian cuisine.”

The General Secretary of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Spain, Michela Dell´Acqua presented the seal and pointed out that "from today Mamma Mí becomes a true bastion of Italian gastronomic excellence in Spain".

The event, held this Thursday, was also attended by, among other institutional representatives, Jacobo Medina, Vice President of the Cabildo, and Isidro Pérez, mayor of the municipality of San Bartolomé, who was pleased that a restaurant in the municipality has obtained this recognition that certifies them as “ambassadors of Italian cuisine in the world.”

Unioncamere, the public entity that brings together all Italian chambers of commerce, industry, crafts and agriculture, as well as the National Institute for Tourist Research of Italy (ISNART) for its acronym in Italian, which certifies quality, also participate in this initiative.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce also held two meetings in Lanzarote, the first in the Canary Islands, with the world of crafts and Italian business, which lives and works on the island.

The meeting of the general secretary of the Italian Chamber with businessmen also included the presence, among others, of the vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle.

The events were organized by the Special Projects Section of the Law Firm of Melissa Carusi Beltoz.
