Pablo Ramos, after finishing his studies, left his native Chile to move to Spain with one objective: to develop his profession and implement his taste for interior design in Lanzarote, using his work and ideas as his main tool.

The importance of interior design, a fact that had already been highlighted years ago by "the great" César Manrique, had been somewhat relegated to the background, due to the "ignorance" surrounding this service, as he explains in an interview with La Voz.

Therefore, Ramos wanted to do his bit to reverse this situation, Pablo Ramos Baldi, an interior design studio that, after fourteen years, has contributed to placing interior design back at the forefront

A fight against ignorance

Under the protection of the need that existed on the island to "give rise to a space where people could find a diversity of more current decorative elements and professional advice", Ramos decided to create, in 2009, his own interior design studio. After that, in 2016, a decoration store would arrive in San Bartolomé, which today offers all kinds of elements: fabrics, textiles, furniture, decoration...

However, he recognizes in an interview with La Voz that the beginnings were not easy, due to the shadow of incomprehension that fell on this discipline in the conejero territory

"Many doors were closed to me when trying to work with companies on the island due to ignorance of my work, but, little by little, I found the right ones. Thus, people began to understand me and, in turn, also understanding the importance of leaving the decoration in the hands of a professional, and not doing it themselves".

"We focus on the public that wants their spaces to say something more"

Now, after more than a decade and a variety of projects carried out such as hotels, restaurants, homes, clinics, nightclubs and offices, Ramos has managed to stand out in the interior design sector, thanks to what he considers his "creative genius", which has endowed each project with "personality and its own soul".

And it has been precisely that "uniqueness" that has brought about the good results of the company: "We focus on the public that wants their spaces to say something more," explains the interior designer.

For this reason, Pablo attends different fairs throughout Europe, which allows him to be aware of new trends and to be able to "capture" brands that may be of interest to those people who are looking for "quality and design", characteristics that, in his opinion, make his products unique.

Likewise, one of the advantages that has contributed to the progress of the studio is that they give the client a comprehensive “turnkey” service, since they not only decorate, but also build: a team of assistant architects are in charge of transforming and designing spaces, together with a large staff of construction workers and artisans who materialize it.

Light, colors or size... They do matter

These good prospects that have marked his past - despite the hard work - are also reflected in the future. Ramos has advanced that his studio is working on the interior design of a vacation apartment building in Arrecife facing the sea and on the design of the project for the restaurant of Luna, the participant of the eighth edition of the culinary program Masterchef Spain.

However, the interior designer affirms that this progress is not only evident in his work, but in the decorative world in general, which, in his opinion, has gained "a lot of strength" in recent years: "There is not a day in which someone does not see at least one publication about decoration on social networks".

"Businesses have realized that people increasingly value space," he comments, "and they know that the place will be better if it has a detailed presentation, since it will be easier for it to become recognized and reach more people."

Future development will be linked to the senses

But, although businesses need to create trends, this decorative boom "will not go out of style".

For the professional, the future development of spaces will be increasingly related to sensations: "Now when you go to a restaurant, it no longer only has to enter through taste, but through smell, sight, touch... And with that, the popularity of interior design in the future will increase".

Likewise, Ramos highlights that, in this, the health emergency also helped, because by being "confined at home", people have become aware that it is essential to be in a "pleasant" space.

"We are no longer satisfied with having a sofa and a television, we want much more. And to achieve this, interior design is essential," he concludes.
