The Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), is promoting the Work-Linked Training Programs (PFAE) 2025 aimed at improving the employability and labor market integration of unemployed people in the islands.

The call, published in the Boletín Oficial de Canarias (BOC) and endowed with more than 25 million euros, will make it possible to offer employment and training to unemployed people on all the islands, giving them the opportunity to obtain a Certificate of Professionalism, while participating in projects of social interest and public utility.

"The main objective of the PFAE is to offer employment opportunities and training to people who are unemployed, especially those with little or no professional qualifications or who have greater difficulties in finding employment," said the Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jéssica de León.

The projects, aimed at people registered as job seekers, are promoted by city councils, island councils, public universities, public law corporations, and non-profit entities, which act as beneficiary entities and execute the subsidies granted by the SCE.

"These entities not only manage the projects, but they are also responsible for selecting and hiring the technical, teaching, and support staff, as well as the student-workers, following the requirements and procedures of the call for applications," De León added.

"We are aware of the State's recent regulatory changes regarding the hiring of technical personnel, but the Government of the Canary Islands is working to prevent the loss of public funding earmarked for employment and training," the councilor concluded.

For her part, the director of the SCE, María Teresa Ortega, emphasized that "our objective is to guarantee that the PFAEs reach those who need them most: unemployed people with low qualifications, women in vulnerable situations or victims of gender violence, and people with disabilities. Equal opportunities and social inclusion are fundamental principles in each of the projects."

Each program has fifteen participants, who are hired under the alternating training and employment modality for a period of eleven months.
