Of the nearly 50,000 employment contracts signed in Lanzarote between January and October of 2025, 32.9% were signed by individuals with non-Spanish nationality, according to data provided by the Lanzarote Data Center.
The figure fits with the figures for the foreign population. Of the 167,341 current residents in Lanzarote, 34.4% are of a nationality other than Spanish.
The hospitality sector, which offers half of the contracts in Lanzarote, formalized a total of 24,716 contracts so far this year, of which 10,609 were signed by foreign nationals, equivalent to 42.9% of the total.
In construction, 37% of the 1,987 contracts formalized between January and October were for foreign individuals, while in agriculture the percentage was 32.1% of the 274 contracts so far this year.
Instead, in **commerce**, foreigners are underrepresented as they only signed **22%** of the 6,711 labor contracts so far in 2025.In the **rest of the services**, excluding hospitality and commerce, and which includes professions in administration, finance, real estate, education, health, liberal professions, etc., foreigners signed **21.4%** of this year's contracts, which amounted to a total of 14,201.They are still fewer in the industry. Of the 1,282 contracts signed in this sector in Lanzarote between January and October, only 16.9% were for foreign nationals.
