The Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands will hire 100 additional workers for the school canteens of the archipelago. These are assistants, kitchen assistants and cooks, "whose incorporation will facilitate the coverage of sick leaves and other conjunctural situations that often hinder the management of this complementary service that is so important for students and their families."

The canteens of the educational centers of the Canary Islands will see their staff increased with up to a hundred new workers during the coming months thanks to an extraordinary economic injection of around one million euros.

This was announced by the regional Minister of Education, Poli Suárez, who assures that these contracts "will serve to speed up the coverage of sick leaves and other conjunctural situations that often cause the greatest management problems in the canteens."

It is the first time that the Ministry of Education has organized such a device in order to improve the labor management of this service.

The measure has "an undoubted social value, taking into account that it implies not only the hiring of up to one hundred people, but also reinforces a key complementary service for both students and their families, to whom reconciliation is facilitated," says Suárez.

Attached to the General Technical Secretariat of the Ministry, the contracted personnel, who will mostly join from January, belong to the category of canteen assistant and, to a lesser extent, to those of cook and kitchen assistants.
