The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Vinos de Lanzarote has been awarded the 'Sustainable Viticulture' award. This recognition was granted by the Chair of Agrotourism and Wine Tourism of the Canary Islands of the Canary Institute of Agri-Food Quality, the University of La Laguna and 'Bodegas El Grifo'. The ceremony took place within the framework of the 'International Technical Conference on Sustainable Viticulture' held in Lanzarote during the past days 2, 3 and 4 November.

The distinction rewarded the "effort and dedication" of the winegrowers, wineries and technical personnel attached to the Regulatory Council. Since its foundation in 1993, they have worked hard to ensure a "sustainable exploitation" of natural resources on the island, preserving a unique agricultural landscape through generations.

Víctor Díaz, president of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote, expressed that "this award reflects the commitment and passion with which farmers, winemakers and technical personnel have worked for decades to promote sustainable viticulture in Lanzarote." "It is an honor" to receive this recognition, from the Council "we will continue to strive to promote and improve sustainable practices for the benefit of our incredible landscape and its tradition."
