The annual rate of the consumer price index (CPI) increased in July compared to June in all autonomous communities except in the Canary Islands, where it decreased by three tenths.
According to the CPI data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the largest increases occurred in Murcia (0.8%), Aragon (0.7%), Castilla-La Mancha (0.6%), Galicia (0.6%) and the Community of Madrid (0.6%).
The communities in which the smallest increase was recorded were Cantabria, Castilla y León and the Basque Country, where prices grew 0.3 points.
The annual rate of change in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages was above 10% in all autonomous communities and the largest increases were recorded in the Canary Islands (13.1%), Cantabria (11.9%) and Castilla-La Mancha (11.6%).
The smallest increases in the prices of these products occurred in Catalonia (10.1%), the Basque Country (10.1%), Asturias (10.2%) and Galicia (10.4%).
On the other hand, the CPI for housing fell in all communities in annual terms, more so in Castilla-La Mancha (19.7%), Extremadura (18.2%) and Castilla y León (17.6%).
