The annual CPI rate contracted in August in the Canary Islands by 0.1% in relation to the previous month, to stand at 3.5%, according to data released this Tuesday by the INE.
In the eighth month of the year, the section on housing registered a decrease of 14.9%, while that of food and non-alcoholic beverages rebounded by 12.6%.
The index relating to alcoholic beverages and tobacco also rose by 5.6% and that of household goods by 4%.
Canary Islands and Extremadura were the only Spanish communities where the annual CPI rate fell, with the same intensity, by 0.1%, last August compared to that recorded in July, while at the national level it increased from 2.3 to 2.6%
The CPI fell by 0.1% in the Canary Islands to stand at 3.5%.
