The Minister of Equipment and Transport of Mauritania, Ely El Veiric, advocated this Tuesday for a greater presence of Canarian companies in his country, within the framework of his visit to the archipelago to strengthen institutional and economic relations between both territories.

El Veiric made these statements on the occasion of the meeting he held at the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria with businessmen from strategic sectors such as logistics, transport, health, training, innovation, and renewable energies, who had the opportunity to exchange experiences and explore avenues of collaboration with the Mauritanian delegation accompanying him.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, its president, Luis Padrón, highlighted the relevance of this visit as another step in the consolidation of relations between Canarias and West Africa.

"Receiving such a high-level delegation from Mauritania represents not only an institutional gesture of great relevance, but also an extraordinary opportunity to continue strengthening ties between both territories," he pointed out.

Padrón also valued the role of the Mauritanian community in the islands, as well as the Chamber's determined commitment to business internationalization: "We firmly believe in the strategic role of Canarias as a platform for connection between Europe, Africa, and America, and particularly in its natural vocation towards West Africa."

He cited initiatives such as the forum promoted by the Chamber to foster economic relations with Africa, as well as collaboration with African business organizations such as the Federación de Cámaras de Comercio de África Occidental, which contribute to generating investment and cooperation opportunities.

Padrón highlighted the potential for collaboration in the field of equipment and transport.

"We are convinced that there are ample opportunities for collaboration in infrastructure, port connectivity, logistics, and mobility, sectors in which Canarian companies have experience, knowledge, and international vocation," he added.
