The Department of Commerce of the Canary Islands has published the call for subsidies for projects to boost open commercial areas aimed at organizations, business associations, merchants, and federations.

This is a line of aid whose purpose is to boost and promote these urban spaces, encouraging the influx of consumers to boost economic and commercial activity, as well as the competitiveness of businesses. The deadline for submitting applications opened on April 3rd and concludes on May 2nd.

This subsidy, charged to the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, has an economic endowment for this call of 790,000 euros, distributed as follows: 690,0000 charged to this fiscal year 2025, and 100,000 for the fiscal year 2026.

The Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Economy, Industry, Commerce, and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, highlighted that with this aid, "we want to reiterate our firm commitment to support companies and professionals, promoting measures that foster innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in the sector."

We want commerce in the Canary Islands to be more competitive and adapt to the new type of consumer, one of the biggest challenges facing the sector at the moment," he added.
