Electricity demand in Lanzarote during the first nine months of the year reached 532.1 GWh [gigawatt hours], experiencing a decrease of 17.4% compared to the same period of 2019. The reduction in demand on the island was higher than the average for the Archipelago, which registered a decrease of 9.9%% from January to September, in a context marked by the reduction in economic activity during the state of alarm.

Throughout the period, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote registered the largest decreases in electricity demand, followed by Tenerife, all of them exceeding the regional average of 9.9%. La Gomera, Gran Canaria and La Palma also reduced their electricity demand, although below the Canary Islands average. On the other hand, El Hierro was the only island that demanded more electrical energy in the first nine months of 2020 in relation to the same period of the previous year.

From January to September, the energy generated by Endesa at the Punta Grande plant and through its renewable subsidiary, Enel Green Power España, covered more than 89% of Lanzarote's electricity demand, with a production that exceeded 476.6 GWh.
