The Official College of Economists of Las Palmas celebrated Economist's Day in Lanzarote this Friday, March 21, as an informative conference in which they spoke about taxation of vacation rentals and the situation of this sector on the island, among other topics.
The event was presided over by the dean of the College of Economists of Las Palmas, Alcibiades Trancho Lemes, and by the vice-dean in Lanzarote of the College, Argeo Mesa Viñas, together with Maria Jesus Tovar Pérez, Minister of Finance and Contracting of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
Trancho Lemes assured that "with this act we reaffirm the importance of deontology and training as the two great pillars in the exercise of the economist, inviting them to continue studying and training, without forgetting the commitment and responsibility that the activity requires."
The first presentation was given by the economist, tax advisor and president of the Technical Commission of the College of Economists of Las Palmas, Carlos Marcelo Correa, who spoke about the taxation of vacation rentals. After this presentation, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle Martínez, spoke.
Next, the economist and auditor Orlando Luján Mascareño took the floor, who spoke about the fiscal update. And he was followed by the economist and study coordinator of the College of Economists of Las Palmas, Rosa Rodríguez Díaz, who addressed the issue of vacation rentals in Lanzarote. The event, which took place in Arrecife, closed with the presentation of awards to the new members.
The dean of the College of Economists of Las Palmas thanked "the support of the members as well as the island's Minister of Finance and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the secretary of the Chamber, Bernardino Jiménez Fernández, as well as the director of the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote, Eva Crespo Fontes, among other guests."
