So far this year, 5,074 vehicles have been registered in Lanzarote, which represents a 53.3% increase compared to last year, when there was a huge standstill due to the effects of the pandemic.
In comparison with 2019, registrations between January and October are still 4.17% below those reached in October of that year. The dealer associations have been warning for months about the slow recovery of the sector.
A recovery that is not only being slow, but also irregular. There was a very moderate growth at the beginning of the year compared to a very marked increase at the beginning of the summer.
The registrations were so many in June (1,109), and in July (734), that, consequently, in August, fewer cars were registered than in the same month of 2021 (402 compared to 515 last year).
In September, with 406 registrations, and October, with 387 registrations, the growth compared to last year has been 17% overall, much more moderate than the growth in the first ten months of the year. However, these are months in which registrations are not usually very high in Lanzarote, nor were they in 2019.
To see if the recovery of the automotive sector is consolidated, we will have to wait for the data for November, a month in which traditionally many registrations take place in the islands in anticipation of the winter season.
